Endoscopy: the scope fleet decides the bargain

A low tower price matters less when one damaged scope stops the room. Compare Olympus, Fujifilm and PENTAX as complete working services.

Your buying summary

The decision at a glance.

Start here
For an established Olympus service, compare CV-190/CLV-190 while retaining verified compatible scopes. For a new service, obtain complete EP-6000 and IMAGINA packages with the required gastroscopes and colonoscopes.
Spend more when
Fund an additional accepted scope before a processor upgrade when scope availability limits work. Change platforms when the complete fleet, processing and repair arrangement makes the service more sustainable.
Watch the budget
Include scope repairs, leak testing, drying, storage, image capture and processing supplies. PENTAX's i10c compatibility must be explicit; old EPK-1000 scopes cannot be assumed transferable.
Check the support
Match every scope to a validated reprocessing route. For SYSTEM 1E, check the exact model's compatibility and handling instructions; the P6700 distinguishes critical-device handling from semicritical-device storage.

Ask the supplier

  1. Which scope models and serials are included and accepted for repair?
  2. How does our list run with one scope unavailable?
  3. What processing equipment, chemistry and connections does each scope require?

Buy enough usable scopes to run the planned list

Picture an ordinary working day with one scope unavailable. Which examinations can still be completed while it is being processed or repaired? That answer is more useful than the processor's feature list. A service with a single suitable scope can gain more capacity from another accepted compatible scope than from a tower upgrade that leaves the same bottleneck.

Build the comparison around exact gastroscope and colonoscope models, their condition, and the number required to maintain the planned service. Include a monitor, image capture, water-bottle and air/water accessories, leak testing and a workable spare strategy. Match channel size and reach to the clinician-approved examination list. Price common scope repairs separately: a low processor price says little about the future cost of a damaged channel or insertion tube.

Stay with Olympus when it preserves useful equipment

CV-190/CLV-190 has a practical advantage for an existing Olympus service if compatible scopes, accessories and staff familiarity can be retained. It does not justify buying a poor-condition scope fleet. Keep a functioning CV-160 when its individual components still support the work; replace or expand it when a complete newer package offers a more sustainable repair and supply arrangement. The purchase should follow the required capability and support, rather than a fixed ceiling on model generation.

For a new service, give Fujifilm EP-6000 and PENTAX IMAGINA a fair comparison. Fujifilm integrates LED illumination and processing; PENTAX puts illumination in the compatible i10c scope's distal tip. Those designs change the equipment and repair basket. Ask where the expensive replacement component sits and who can supply it. Do not assume an old EPK-1000 scope will transfer to IMAGINA.

Reprocessing determines whether the apparent capacity is real

Complete the cleaning, processing, drying, storage and traceability plan before expanding the fleet. More scopes will not solve an unfunded processing bottleneck, and a donated reprocessor does not establish compatibility. STERIS prohibits processing devices excluded by their manufacturer or absent from its compatibility finder. An existing supported SYSTEM 1E installation can therefore favor particular compatible scopes; an unsupported or mismatched machine can add cost without adding usable capacity.

The exact SYSTEM 1E model also changes handling requirements. For the P6700, its manual requires critical devices to be used immediately or processed again before use; semicritical devices may be handled and stored like high-level-disinfected endoscopes. Identify the offered model and use its instructions. Do not apply that configuration's workflow to every SYSTEM 1E generation or treat liquid chemical processing as permission to abbreviate cleaning.

Give a repair promise a price and a timescale

A written repair offer should identify the scopes it accepts, inspection or refurbishment scope, major exclusions and turnaround. Add outbound and return freight, and decide how the service runs during the wait. Local repair and a usable loan arrangement can outweigh a modest capital saving; an overseas workshop without continuity provision can leave the same room idle for longer.

No complete comparable system prices or head-to-head field reliability results were verified here. That limits a universal brand ranking, but it does not prevent a decision: favor the package that keeps the required scope fleet available within the funded processing and repair plan. If those continuing costs cannot be sustained, phase the service or fund dependable referral before adding a tower.

Olympus CV-190 with CLV-190 EVIS EXERA III

Existing Olympus fleet comparison

Best for
Hospitals already equipped and trained around compatible Olympus scopes
Why consider it
Olympus documents HD imaging, NBI and improved still-image selection. Continuing an existing ecosystem can retain usable scopes and accessories instead of forcing a complete platform migration.
The trade-off
The processor is only part of the purchase. Scope model, condition, image chain, light source, lamp and repair eligibility determine practical value; a listing for the two boxes is not a ready endoscopy room.
Price & package
Quote required as of 2026-10-16. Opened Victori and All States M.E.D. refurbished listings but no accessible verified numerical offer was obtained; request exact included scopes and accessories.
Support
Current Olympus product documentation exists. Manufacturer repair acceptance, end-of-support dates and destination coverage for the offered serials were not confirmed.

Fujifilm ELUXEO Lite EP-6000

New GI platform alternative

Best for
A new GI service with a local Fujifilm service and consumables route
Why consider it
Integrated LED illumination and processing remove a separate xenon-lamp purchase cycle from the comparison. The manufacturer describes white-light, LCI and BLI imaging; local scope selection determines which functions are available.
The trade-off
Its economic case depends on the price and repair cost of the complete compatible scope fleet. LED illumination does not make insertion tubes, channels or connectors immune to damage.
Price & package
Quote required as of 2026-10-16 for processor, gastroscope, colonoscope, monitor, accessories and support.
Support
Current regional manufacturer product page was opened. Confirm exact regional scope compatibility, service response and parts terms; the page is not a worldwide support contract.

PENTAX IMAGINA EPK-i5500c with i10c-series scopes

Focused new GI platform

Best for
A routine GI service able to obtain dependable PENTAX support
Why consider it
PENTAX places LED illumination in the distal tip of compatible i10c scopes and documents full-HD output, image capture and DICOM. This architecture deserves a real package quote rather than dismissal based on historic flagship pricing.
The trade-off
Processor economy can shift value and repair exposure into the scopes. Do not assume old EPK-1000 scopes will work with an IMAGINA purchase; compatibility is part of the bid.
Price & package
Quote required as of 2026-10-16; no verified configured public price obtained.
Support
Current manufacturer platform documentation and product identifier were located. Written local repair coverage and turnaround remain unconfirmed.

STERIS SYSTEM 1E

Conditional reprocessing component

Best for
A facility with validated device compatibility, appropriate utilities and an approved workflow
Why consider it
The manufacturer publishes a model-specific compatibility matrix and a liquid chemical sterilant process for cleaned reusable heat-sensitive devices. That is useful evidence for designing a service around exact scopes.
The trade-off
It is not an automatic substitute for cleaning or a universal processor for every endoscope. It requires the prescribed chemistry, connections, water treatment, maintenance and workflow. If the offered configuration is the P6700, its manual requires critical devices to be used immediately or processed again before use; semicritical devices may be handled and stored like high-level-disinfected endoscopes. Confirm the exact offered model's instructions rather than generalizing this configuration's workflow across SYSTEM 1E generations.
Price & package
Quote required as of 2026-10-16, including installation, water treatment, adapters, chemistry and recurring validation supplies.
Support
Current manufacturer product information and compatibility search exist. Exact scope combinations and local support have not been validated for a proposed installation.
Beyond the purchase price

Questions to resolve

  • Which exact scope models and serials are included, and who accepts them for repair?
  • What is the complete validated reprocessing route for each scope?
  • How many examinations can the fleet complete when one scope is unavailable?
  • Does the quote include commissioning, training and a written support term?

What the evidence does not establish

  • No current destination-specific manufacturer support commitment or head-to-head reliability dataset established.
  • No verified numeric complete-system price; online processor listings did not supply a complete comparable offer.
  • No current CV-160/EPK-1000 lifecycle statement verified.
  • Exact proposed scope/reprocessor combinations remain to be validated.
