Ask the supplier

  1. Which components and licences are included?
  2. What is our approved annual consumable basket?
  3. Which lifecycle notice applies to this exact model and destination?

Compare within the right modality first

CT, MR and angiography injectors are different purchasing classes. Specify the intended examinations with the clinical team before comparing used-unit prices. An IV infusion pump is not an equivalent budget alternative, and a familiar injector brand does not establish that the offered model fits the imaging service.

Bayer's Stellant FLEX is a CT example, Mark 7 Arterion is marketed for angiographic procedures, and MRXperion addresses MR workflows. These illustrate the selection gate; they are not interchangeable recommendations or a ranking of all available manufacturers.

Make the hardware offer complete

List the injector head, base, controller or workstation, mount, cables and required interfaces. Bayer's Stellant FLEX specifications name the head, base and Certegra workstation separately. A photograph of the head cannot establish that the offered system includes the rest.

Check mounting and reach against the scanner or angiography table. In MR, the exact device's conditions and installation arrangement require review by the MR safety team. Do not infer compatibility from a marketing field-strength headline or transfer an accessory assumption from a different model. Include inspection, installation, training and acceptance in the purchase scope.

Pay for interfaces you will actually use

Automated documentation, worklist integration and scanner synchronization can be useful when they remove a demonstrated handoff or documentation problem. They also require exact compatible versions and an accountable integration owner. Bayer identifies some Stellant FLEX connectivity functions as additional software purchases.

Demonstrate the required exchange with the actual scanner and information systems. A feature shown in a product-family brochure may be absent from the quoted licence. Conversely, an expensive connected package adds little value if the department cannot use or support the integration. Compare the accepted basic workflow with the proposed addition.

Build an approved supply basket

For each eligible system, identify the approved syringe, tubing and other disposables needed for the chosen workflow. Keep single-patient and approved multi-patient arrangements distinct and follow the applicable instructions; price comparisons do not authorize reuse or substitutions. Include stock availability, freight, storage, expiry and expected wastage.

Use one period for the comparison. As hypothetical arithmetic, 1,000 examinations using a $12 approved disposable kit would cost $12,000 for those kits; a $16 kit would cost $16,000. That $4,000 difference excludes contrast, other supplies, service and equipment. It is not a market price or proof that either injector is cheaper overall. Replace every assumption with the actual compatible basket before a purchasing conclusion.

Check the support deadline before buying used

Bayer's US lifecycle page, checked on 18 October 2026, lists Mark V ProVis at end of life on 31 December 2025. It lists classic Stellant models and Spectris Solaris EP at 31 December 2028. Its FAQ describes the end of manufacturer service, parts, technical support and consumables for the relevant installed base.

Those notices materially change how an old bargain should be assessed. Confirm the exact model, regional notice and applicable terms; a third-party repair offer is not continued manufacturer support. A consumable stockpile also needs a credible expiry and replacement plan. Do not let an older seller article stand in for the current lifecycle position.

Choose the package that keeps examinations possible

Keeping an accepted injector can preserve capital when approved supplies, trained service and the required functions remain sustainable. Replacement earns its cost when it resolves a documented support, compatibility or workflow limitation. Compare outright purchase and any offered service-linked acquisition on the same supplied components and period.

The useful total includes hardware, integration, training, maintenance, consumables and a response to interruption. No universal cheapest brand follows from a head-only price. Choose the modality-appropriate package whose recurring obligations the department can actually fund.
